will no won rid me of this meddlesome ex president?

Despite the editor lamenting the use of a big H and last week's shunning, please read on for the latest update...

How very nice to have a second 32 comp in a row. Things are looking very exciting. And I'm pleased to say that Peter T didn't win (just for a change) but he remains firmly fixed on the top rung. Dean, the quiet achiever, is now in second place. And a very special mention of our very good friend H, who managed to make an appearance (albeit, after the comp was nearly over). Hopefully we'll see last nights new comers, Ben, Julian, Googa, Joe, Simon and Darryl next week.

Good things to you all,
JL.

Oh Happy Days!

Let us all share in our benevolent dictator's excitement...

A return to a 32 comp last night put a smile on the dial of all who attended. Especially that star of my regular email column, Peter T, who yet again knocked out all comers. And a quick thanks to one old HPDP'er who sent me a very kind note last week encouraging me to continue reminding all of you brethren just just how central to the very fabric of our existence the Ex President is! Some now familiar new faces have been returning this year and recreating some of that old spirit and I'd like to mention them here just in case you all thought this was just about Pete! Old salts like Stella, Spider, Phil, Dean, Dan, Dave and Col, the Beardies (Justin and Phil P) and Geoff, some genuine locals with a great sense of fun and a delight to have around. And relative new comers who are settling into the bad habit of Wednesday nights like Owen, Louis, Chris O and Dave G. And finally the uber barman, Drew, the guy who keeps the cheer flowing.

See you all and maybe then some next week.

another exciting update

We catch up on some announcements by providing John's exciting news from valentines day...

"Well pool heads, even though Peter T's form has slipped of late he remains atop the ladder. Nice to see two newbies in final last night. All the action at www.hpdp.org.au.

almost there

John serves up an exiting message...

Yes, we were close to a 32 comp last night. So get down early and often! Newbie Mond found himself in the final, but was kept out of 1st position by Dean. Peter T is still comfortably atop the ladder. All the action at www.hpdp.org.au.

Fresh genes

John provides the latest episode...

Hello All,

Our 16 comp last night offered no buybacks I'm pleased to say. And just for a change a newbie (Nathan) won the comp (though Peter T still managed to breeze into the final). And Jo, perhaps you could make it next week now that you have a little more notice? All the action at www.hpdp.org.au.

Henare's star is rising

The editor finds himself with a conflict of interest introducing John's latest post...

Well done Henare. His first ever comp win! Shame it was on a buyback eh Pete? And thanks to the finalists for putting the winnings on the bar. What a couple of gems you guys are. All the action at www.hpdp.org.au.

Peter T's off

John rings in the new...

Congratulations to ex President Teutenberg for vanquishing all comers and ascending the ladder in our first competition for 2008. Fun was had all round. Look forward to seeing more of your smiling faces at the new improved level one pool facilities at the Harold Park hotel next Wednesday. All the action at www.hpdp.org.au.

Almost the first comp

John laments...

Well,

As those of you who attended know the first comp failed to get off the ground last night due to a malfunctioning table. However, there was much merry making playing "Round the World" on the offending object. Barring a similar event next week, the first comp is now scheduled for next week. So come on down!

A deep blue new year to you all

John rouses:

Comrades,

I'm thrilled to announce the first of what will be a full year of competition commencing tomorrow, Wednesday 9 January at 7:30pm at the Harold Park Hotel,. There is an exciting new development with the two tables being moved to the northern end of the upstairs level. This should make for a comfortable evening for all comers. Look forward to seeing you all there. With respect to last year, whilst we have not made the final update to the 2007 stats, I believe it's safe to congratulate Dan with his unassailable position on points. Congrats mate.

Love at ya,
John.
